Why UAT is essential for your business?
What is User Acceptance Testing (UAT)?
It is the final
phase of the testing process wherein the user will be given the responsibility
to test the software product or application in a real-time environment and thus
provide their valuable feedback in terms of functionality, performance and user
experience. Based on the feedback provided, the concerned teams will modify or
update the application to improve the overall quality of the product.
The significance of UAT:
User Acceptance Testing (UAT) provides a platform through which the required business functions are demonstrated and operated in a manner that is in line with real-world circumstances. If the testing process does not produce the expected outcome, the item is documented and the developers will again repair it accordingly.
This testing method ensures that the final product is well developed. But,
still there can be instances where bugs can be uncovered and need to be fixed
accordingly.
These bugs can create an issue, which will provide a sort of
bad user experience. To solve such issues, UAT is deemed to be an important
testing phase. Only 5 - 10% of the project time is taken by the UAT phase, but,
approximately 30% of the total waste is saved. Projects can provide a good ROI
and thus satisfy the stakeholders and other key members involved.
Following are a few key points that depict the significance
of UAT in businesses:
·
Low ongoing maintenance costs.
Functionality and usability issues are fixed in the early stages of the
software development process
·
Features/usability issues are identified
and fixed at the earliest
·
An end-users vision is clearly provided.
The feedback that has been gathered can be used for subsequent iterations of
software development. The robustness and usability of software is increased
·
Based on the user stories, business
requirements are validated. This
confirms that the business requirements are correctly interpreted
·
The production defects are reduced to a
great extent The items are fixed in the development stage rather than in the
production stage
·
While using the new system, end-users will
gain confidence and may develop specific skillsets.
